Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) at IISER TVM houses state-of-art instrumentation for advanced characterization of molecular compounds and materials. This facility is used by in-house researchers who are involved in cutting-edge research programs. The facility is maintained by faculty members and technical assistants possessing essential expertise. Though this advanced instrumentation facilities primarily meant for the requirements of the ongoing R&D activities of the Institute, IISER Thiruvananthapuram extends utilisation of these facilities to academic and research organizations and industries on payment basis.

One Time Registration

If you're a new user, click here to create a new IISER TVM CIF account. You will be redirected to the registration page and there you have to enter the institution/industry details.

Login Credentials

After successful registration, you will receive an email in 15 minutes regarding the account credentials. After that you can login to the portal by using the same credentials.

Facility Booking

Once after you logged into the portal you will be able to change the account password. The facility booking procedure can be start by clicking the "New Booking" link from the menu.


General Instructions

External users can book Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) equipment at IISER Thiruvananthapuram on a payment basis using the steps below.
Step 1: Booking the Instrument on the ISTEM Portal
  1. Log in to the ISTEM Portal and book the required CIF equipment, or directly reach the equipment page in ISTEM from the table below.
  2. The CIF instrument operator will allocate a tentative earliest date for sample analysis in ISTEM portal.
  3. If you are comfortable with the date provided by the operator, you can proceed to the further steps of booking.
Step 2: Register / Log In to the IISER TVM - CIF Booking Portal for Payment, Invoice, and Results
  1. Visit the IISER Thiruvananthapuram CIF External Booking Portal
  2. New users must register once using the Create Account option.
    • A password will be send to your registered email ID within 15 minutes.
    • Use the same login credentials for all future submissions.
  3. After logging in, under the New Booking menu, you will find the instrument-specific email ID and guidelines/documents.
Step 3: Contact the Instrument Operator (compulsory) before making any booking
  1. Send an email to the respective instrument operator (email address provided in the portal) and discuss the sample details, nature of the sample, and any special requirements.
  2. Read the guidelines uploaded for each instrument.
  3. You may proceed with booking only after receiving confirmation from the operator.
Step 4: Documentation Required for Sample Submission
  1. For Students (Academic Institution Charges)
    • Send a hard copy of the authorization/request letter with signature and seal from the research supervisor/department head along with the sample for every submission.
  2. For Principal Investigators
    • Send a hard copy of the self-declaration letter on the institution letterhead with signature and seal along with the sample for every submission.
Step 5: Booking the Instrument
  1. In New Booking ➝ Choose the analytical facility ➝ Equipment type, and read the documentation file (mandatory to proceed).
  2. Click on the SELECT button ➝ Choose Experiment ➝ Confirm Booking ➝ Proceed.
  3. Choose the number of samples (the number of samples on the ISTEM portal and IISER CIF Portal should match).
  4. Enter your ISTEM FBR Number and ISTEM User ID correctly in the space provided.
  5. Add any additional requirements (if applicable).
  6. The total payment amount will be displayed automatically.
Step 6: Payment
  1. Visit the IISER Thiruvananthapuram CIF External Booking Portal
  2. Option A: QR Code (UPI Payment)
    • Scan the QR code and make the payment using any UPI app.
    • Upload the screenshot showing the reference number clearly.
  3. Option B: SBI Collect
    • Follow the SBI Collect guidelines (link provided) for making the payment using the SBI Collect website.
    • Enter the DU number in the space provided and upload the receipt.
    • After successful payment, you can download the Proforma Invoice.
Step 7: Sending the Samples
  1. Send the samples along with all required documents (authorization letter, self-declaration, sample submission form, etc.) to the following address

  2. Write the Proforma Invoice Number clearly on the envelope.
Step 5: Receiving the Results
  1. After analysis, you will receive the final invoice printout and the download link for the sample results in your registered email address.
  2. You can also alternatively download the results by logging into the booking portal.

Important Notes
  1. Invoice Details
    • Invoices are generated automatically based on the name and address entered in your IISER TVM portal profile.
    • Invoices (Proforma and Final) are system-generated and do not require any signature.
  2. Courier Instructions
    • Send the samples via India Post (preferably).
    • IISER-TVM is located on the outskirts of the city; many private couriers may not deliver to PIN 695551.
  3. Sample Return
    • Remaining/processed samples cannot be returned under any circumstances.
  4. Refund Policy
    • Refunds (if applicable) will be processed after deducting GST.
